Crisis in Our Neighborhood:
Battling the Opioid Epidemic TOGETHER
Attendees will hear a powerful Keynote presentation from Andrew McKenna, JD, author of Sheer Madness: From Federal Prosecutor to Federal Prisoner. Mr. McKenna’s presentation chronicles his journey from U.S. Airman, U.S. Marine Corps Captain, JAG Attorney and Justice Department prosecutor to opioid and heroin addict, bank robber, and ultimately federal prisoner. Mr. McKenna is an expert on the opioid epidemic and its devastating effects on communities, drawn from his own personal and professional experiences with addiction, the justice system, the prison industrial complex and leadership.
The Keynote address will be followed by a panel presentation focusing on efforts of the Boone County medical and legal communities to address the opioid crisis locally, an educational presentation from the Boone County Health Department on Narcan and the annual youth presentation, this year delivered by the young women of Teen Challenge.
